Rubies of Thought

She riseth also while it is yet night and giveth meat to her house-hold, and a portion to her maidens.
Proverbs 31:15

shes prepared for everything

cross ref. Doctrine and Covenants 88:124
Cease to be idle; cease to be unclean;cease to find fault one with another; cease to sleep longer than needful; retire to thy bed early that ye may not be weary; arise early, that your bodies and minds may be invigorated.

if we are idle our minds wonder and we start to nitpick and thinking of things that are better left alone.

Topical guide ref. Idleness, laziness, uncleanliness, backbiting, gossip

cross ref. Isaiah 29:20 for the terrible one is brought to nought, and the scorner is consumed, and all that watch for iniquity are cut off

The Holy Ghost won't be with us when we dwell on the bad, gossip, backbit, point fingers....

This is one I really need to memorize I won't say I am a gossiper but I have a friend who is backbiting, gossip, finger pointing, etc and when she isn't nitpicking she is a great person but it can be hard not to be trapped into her talking. The talking turns into things that aren't good and then it can be hard to pull away and afterwards I feel bad that I even was involved in the conversation. I have started just walking away or pretending that she is talking about something else and changing the subject.  Most of the time it is easier to not even start a conversation and walking away.

I have seen how this can change our entire demeanor we become hateful wretched people after awhile and only see the bad I don't want to be like that. I think having idle hands is the beginning of this trait we must keep busy and active mentally and physically.

The Proverbs 31 woman is not an idler, nor gossip, she excepts all equally. She takes care of herself and is organized. You will not find her idly wasting her time. (LOL Like I am right now on here)

I find this to be very daunting, it is hard to except all equally, not loose ones patience with those around us.

I have seen a few, and I mean very few,  who seem to be able to love all equally they have such sweet countences about them. I know it can be done.

I want to be that woman who has the reflection of Christ in her countence, not the woman who has Satan driving her around.

Have a Blessed Day,

Erika

  2. It is so hard not to get sucked into gossip. I find if I am in the scriptures each day it helps me to stay out of it better. As far as not being idle that is so true. We don't have time to worry about what everyone else is or isn't doing. Love your post.
