Simplicity of the Season

We have over the years simplified Christmas in our home, we have never really liked the commerialism of it all so it wasn't a hard evolution.

We have built our own traditions, slipping away from what we grew up with and making our own within our family.

Through the years we have done different things and then the next done something different. Somethings stay somethings are expanded or there are different variations. But it all is focused on the real reason for the season. We want the spiritual aspects to shine bright and clear.

Santa isn't a part of our Christmas I have always considered it a lie I am telling my children. We keep the gifts simple, homemade, things needed, much loved books, and not the main stream of what society considers a real present.
This year I have not wanted to do anything really. Christmas cards I sent out as emails, the goodies we make to give to neighbors, mail ladies, librarians, and friends haven't been made. The focus has been my family and inside the walls of our home.
And it has helped me see my focus once again. Sometimes there are smugs on the glass that makes your world seem a little off kilter but your not sure why. You seem to be on your path and you are but something just feels out of whack. Stepping away and cleaning the glass brings you back into focus. My  husband is my glass cleaner, he is so patient and loving and has been there when I need him to be. My parents has been wonderful as well and I am thankful everyday for the love they and our Father in Heaven have for me.

The Christmas season I wish all of you and very merry one and enjoy the season with loved ones as you remember the reason for this sacred time of year.
