Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY

Jan 11, 2010

Outside my window...
Its cold and dark. It is Sunday evening and we are still having a very cold, cold front hanging over us. It is suppose to start warming a little tomorrow. Monday Morning at 4:30am it is still dark and cold.

I am thinking...
Of how tired I am I left this morning at 6:30 to go to a branch conference it was an over 2 hour drive for me. But it was very worthwhile. I am secretary for the Stake Relief Society and I love going and visiting other branches and wards and meeting sisters from all over our stake. We visited 2 wonderful elderly sisters and I have many thoughts on the things they shared. One is one of the oldest members of our stake.

I am thankful for...
I am thankful right now for the warm house we have since it hasn't been above freezing alot this week. And our other house was so drafty and cold it being 80+ years old it didn't hold heat at all. Also I love my electric blanket this week:0)  But on the serious side I am thankful for the wonderful examples I have around me that I learn from daily the sisters that share themselves in patient and loving ways that help me grow immensely

From the learning rooms...
Another week of learning and fun, another week of exploration into the Ancient world, another week being a mom to my wonderful children.

From the kitchen...
Nothing much its Sunday night I make a big crockpot of something Saturday and that is lunch and dinner. Or we have snacks. I just pop it in its base Sunday morning and turn it on and it is nice and hot when we get home. Breakfast is simple so I don't have alot to do. I am tryng to streamline food prep on Sunday so there isn't any.

I am wearing...
Something warm...I did wear my new skirt and used my new bag today since it matched.

I am creating...
The kids created a monster stuffed animal yesterday (Yguy) and Ash made a doll's dress. Both 90% by themselves on the sewing maching. I will post pictures of them later this week.

I am going...
To bed with a good book and be toasty warm under my heating blanket here in a minute

I am reading...
The Private World of Tasha Tudor LOVE this book! I am done with it but am going to keep it till its due and read it a few more times.
Daughters of Blessing book 2 by Laurine Snelling
And of course the Old Testament we are chugging through as a family.

I am hoping...
Many things!

I am hearing...
The heater on, yguy and hubby talking and one of the dogs wanting in her girls bedroom for bedtime.

Around the house...
Its a mess is all I can say but it is Sunday and I am not touching it till Monday!

One of my favorite things...
Is my children telling me today church wasn't the same with me not there. They missed me and that is a good thing

A few plans for the rest of the week:
Seminary, library, give my hubby a kiss here in a minute, sewing, meal making and enjoying the present today and forgiving the past mistakes.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...
This is a picture of the birds eating on our birdfeeders we put up earlier this week. They are chipping sparrows and very piggy but so fun to watch. There are 3 you can see on the feeder and a couple on a pinecone in shadow.

  5. I am reading a book by the same author. I just discovered her last month but have another one of her books on my shelf. The one I read previously was Brushstroke Legacy. I really enjoyed it.
I don't cook much on the weekend either. I like to make crock pot meals.
    Have a great week,
