Pondering

.....feast upon the words of Christ; behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do. 2 Nephi 32:3
Humble yourselves, and continue in prayer unto him. Alma 34:19
Pray always, that you may come off conqueror; yea, that you may conquer Satan, and that you may escape the hands of the servants of Satan that do uphold his work. D&C 10:5
....I say unto you that ye must pray always, and not faint; that ye must not perform any thing unto the Lord save in the first place ye shall pray unto the Father in the name of Christ, that he will consecrate thy performance unto thee, that thy performance may be for the welfare of thy soul. 2Nephi 32:9

Yesterday I was asked to substitute at the last minute in Relief Society and the lesson was on Praying. This lesson was for me! And I needed to read and hear what the Spirit had for me to see and hear in this lesson. I needed the reminder of how important our conversations with our Heavenly Father are and by not praying we are opening that door to Satan.

I let my own tiredness or distracted mind keep me from the most important conversations I could have in a day and that is exactly what the adversary wants.

This lesson I know was laid in my hands yesterday in a way that I would hear the message as a gentle reminder of my own....selfishness... I think. I wouldn't have listened the way I needed to if the teacher would have been able to come. I am thankful for the basicness of the gospel and that the answers we need are right there all we need is to listen.

  1. Hello dear friend,

I just gave a talk a few weeks ago on prayer - and just like you said, it seemed more for myself than others! Isn't that how it always goes!?! lol I read _Passionate Housewives Desperate for God_ and it had a wonderful chapter on prayer. I loved that she mentioned that we push ourselves so much to have that separate time to ponder and have devotional time. But, sometimes amidst the chaos of children and life we just don't fit it in. She mentions "praying in droplets." Praying throughout the day - while your changing that diaper, or doing the dishes, or the chores. But pray! I loved that! Having a prayer in your heart at all times, is something we can do even while going about our crazy lives! :)

Loved stopping by your blog today! Hope all is well with you. *hugs*
