Week in Feminine Dress Day 7

Here I am this morning. Nothing homemade today but the skirt was bought new several years ago and has slowly faded to this soft light blue it was dark denim at one point. I love it and am sad that it will probably only last through the summer before I will have to retire it.

Our barn is behind me and I am looking down at one of our barn cats that is trying so hard to get Ash's attention while she snaps this picture.

Have a blessed day.

Week in Feminine Dress Day 6

Today is the 6th day, for me at least, of the challenge. I didn't get a photo Sunday so I am going to do an extra day.

Yesterday the kiddos and I went and picked some wild lettuce and also some honeysuckle which I love. I have added pictures of the vases of it I set around the house. Last night everytime a breeze came thru our bedroom window I could smell the lovely aroma of these wildflowers.

And here I am today, skirt made by me along with apron. Top was a 60 cent thrift store find.

Have a Blessed Day

Week in Feminine Dress Day 5

Yesterday, would have been day 5 but it was Sunday and I had other things on my mind. I did wear a skirt and I did change into one after church but alas not picture.

Today is all homemade, skirt I made a few weeks ago I posted here. The top I made last summer to go with my pioneer day outfit along with the apron. They are made out of unbleached muslim which I love since I love things that are made from natural materials. Most of my clothing is polyester is so hot.

That's our driveway behind me and I am standing in one of my flowerbeds this one is the stages of creation. I add things to it every summer things that butterflys and hummingbirds love. Our soil is so bad that things are hard to find that will actually live in acidic soil. But I have found things that do and when I do I am a happy camper.

Have a Blessed Day.

Week in Feminine Dress Day 4

Today hubby was home and we had a great day! And here is what I was wearing today on this 4th day of the Challenge. This skirt is made from the same fabric that I made day 2's blouse out of. It was made out of a Martha Stewart sheet I bought at the thrift store. I love this skirt it is so light and along with the homemade cotton slip it is very nice to wear in the summer time. The top is one my mom bought me for my birthday the Nov after Hurricane Katrina things were starting to normalize at least for us on the coast and to have something new was nice and made me feel good.

My cat Lucky is in the background, he didn't want to pose with me. I threw on Yguy's flip flops to take this pix.

We went to town after this and watched the Primary children have a talent show our children aren't in primary anymore but with hubby's calling the children love having him there. Then we priced some turkeys at the feed store, picked up some seeds, and came home.
One the way home on a country road I yelled, "Stop, red flowers!" Well, we had to stop and I had Yguy and hubby pick some cute little trumpet looking flowers and there some grape vines different from the wild ones we have growing at our house. They had little grape clusters all over. They are, I am hoping something besides the opossum grapes we have but we will see.

I followed this helpful post from Chiot's Run and am trying to root these splendid finds. I had the rooting hormone from something a few years back, her post help me find the courage to try again the unsuccessful attempt. Hubby and I also walked to the corner of our property and picked some honeysuckle to try and root.
Homemade newspaper pots idea from here and here. I also use toilet paper rolls which work great for things like squash that will need to go in the ground soon after germinating, these little pots are great for things that need to grow up some before planting. At least this has been my experience with them this year.

Have a Blessed Day,

Week in Feminine Dress Day 2

Well, here we are Day 2. Ash had a little harder time today. She had a skirt on this morning and got it all wet while feeding the chickens so she put on her sarong she made last summer at girls camp along with her scout camp tshirt her brother and dad brought her last summer.

My outfit is one I love wearing around the house. The top is homemade as well as the skirt. I combined two patterns to make this skirt and I really like it. And of course I have my pink yard shoes on :0)
My new shoes leather and almost brand new $1.50 at the thrift store! I love bargains like that. They are so comfy I wore them yesterday to the coast (Gulfport) for the kids eye appointments and ended up being gone all day and my feet never once complained.

Week in Feminine Dress Day1

Today is the first day of the Challenge and my daughter has decided to join me. She thought it would be fun. Now, she is a jeans kinda gal so this should be fun and different for her. But to do it together makes it all the more fun for her since I wear skirts pretty much all the time and she doesn't so she is joining me in something I love.

My outfit, I made the skirt about 6 years ago from fabric a friend gave me, it was the first tiered skirt I made and I just love it. The top was given to me and my slip is a cotton one I made as well. Oh, the apron is norm in our home for me, that is, I love aprons!

Have a blessed day....
